Harness the Healing Power of Your Mind
In everyday life, we mostly use our conscious minds. That's the part of your mind you are using right now to read this. Beneath that is the subconscious, where memories and information can be stored until we need them. Deeper still is the unconscious mind, where long-held patterns, emotional responses, habits, and beliefs are held.
The unconscious mind is often understood as having a protective role. It constantly interprets situations and tries to respond in ways it believes will keep you safe. Sometimes those responses feel positive, but other times, they can feel as if the mind is working against us. Even so, the unconscious mind is generally understood to be trying to help in the best way it knows how. For example, anxiety can prepare you for perceived vulnerability or threat, depression to withdraw from perceived dangers, and some addictions to soothe your mood.
Hypnotherapy can be said to be so effective because it works directly with the unconscious mind, where so many psychological mechanisms originate.
The neuro-science of hypnotherapy is well documented in many excellent peer reviewed publications, and the NHS now devotes a page on its website to it. It is a very natural and relaxing process. You are gently guided into a very receptive state, then we use suggestion, imagery, and metaphor to support the positive change you want.
Some examples of what Hypnotherapy can help with include:
-
Anxiety
-
Low mood
-
Compulsive behaviours
-
Trauma-related difficulties
-
Unwanted habits
-
Pain management
-
Fears and phobias
